Evangelism Materials Used to Promote Adult Instruction Class
By Rev. Jack Cascione

There have been some requests for information about advertising evangelism classes, and designs for canvassing fliers. We have used these materials and refined them for a number of years. The Lord has always blessed this effort every fall and winter. This information is yours to change for your own congregation and pastor.

The following are items used to promote adult instruction classes. The class lasts about 16 weeks, two hours for each meeting. For teaching materials we recommend Koehler's Annotated Catechism available from the Fort Wayne Seminary Book Store. We also recommend Dr. Laurence L. White's "Life With God: A survey of Biblical Doctrine as confessed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church" available from Our Savior Lutheran Church, 5000 West Tidwell, Houston TX 77091-4633.

You are cordially invited to attend the
Comparative Religion Series
For Adults
at Redeemer Lutheran Church beginning Sunday, February 6th, at 6:00 p.m.

We offer this opportunity to learn about basic Christianity and what you believe about God. Many people are sincerely interested in knowing more about Christianity, learning more about their relationship with God, and learning more about the organized church on earth. However, they are confused by the existence of so many religious denominations and the bits and pieces they hear about what Christians believe or do not believe. In recent years, even more confusion has been caused by the increasing number of congregations who purposely hide their denominational affiliation or beliefs with generic titles such as "Community Church", "Fellowship Church", or "Friendship Church."

This series is designed to give accurate information about historic Christianity found in the Bible and the early church. They also explain the origins and reasons for the various denominations in our community, why they are different, and on what points they agree and disagree.

Each Sunday at 6:00 p.m., beginning February 6, we will review one or two basic doctrines from the Bible such as the Trinity, origin of the Bible and its divine inspiration, the two natures of Christ, Baptism, the Lord’s Supper, prayer, creation, the end of the world, the church, Law and Gospel, eternal life, and many more. At the same time, the views of various denominations such as Methodists, Assemblies of God, Pentecostals, Christian Scientists, Mormons, Catholics, Lutherans, Baptists, Jehovah Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, Episcopalians, etc., will be compared and discussed on each of the above doctrines. All questions will be welcomed. We want to help you develop your own conclusions about the Bible and Christianity.

There are no obligations, fees, or tests. Baby-sitting for infants will be provided at no charge each Sunday evening in our Preschool room and church nursery. For older children there are toys, videos tapes, and table top activities. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about God. For further information, please visit or write Redeemer Lutheran Church, 30003 Jefferson, St. Clair Shores - 48082, or call 294-0640.

Sincerely,

Rev. Jack Cascione, AA, BSed., M.F.A., M.Div.

WE BELIEVE: I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried;. He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence He shall come to judge the quick and dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; The holy Christian Church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen.

We also believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, inerrant Word of God.

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."  John 3:16
